Poem

"Grrr." My stomach
rumbles. I hadn't
eaten for ten
years. Or at least
it felt that way. I
was as hungry as
an elephant. And I
felt as if i could eat
one too. I could already feel
the sun shining brighter as I
took another step into the kitchen.

Vocab words

"Eeeerk!" My car skids across the lanes. Horrific thoughts begin to fill my mind. It was just one mistake. And if I hurt somebody, my life would never be the same. We had just had a strife. I overreact and storm out, hop in the car, and my mind was so far away I couldn't even pay attention. I can hear the sirens approaching, pulling me over to figure out what I've done.

Officer Brown informs me that everybody is fine. Well not everybody. I on the other hand now have to go to court. I was indicted under a DUI charge. At least thats what my mistake was deemed. Though, I was completely sober. But that didn't matter. I could have seriously injured someone. It was time to pay for my mistake.

Research

One thing I have learned throughout the research process is how to evaluate sources. I now know how to read information more efficiently. I also know now how to use information, process and evaluate it, and turn it into writing. I have not always been strong at writing about information. Now, I feel much more confident through learning properly how to write from research.

I am not completely comfortable with embedding quotations. A good amount of my sources have no author and it confuses me when embedding quotations. I would like to continue to learn more about my topic. I find the witch trials to be such an interesting topic because the real image of what were thought to be witches is completely different from fairy tale depictions of witches. It is also interesting how the Catholic church had no problem killing thousands of women, though the women killed were murdered because of homicide accusations.

I have worked on my paper and reading for about an hour each.

Reading Response

To me, Junior represents a diamond in the rough. Though he has a brain disease and comes off as strange, I think he has many special qualities and talents. He is very smart and seems kind, caring, and compassionate. Junior has faced more hardships than the average person. For example, his father along with many people he knows are alcoholics. These hardships result in Junior coming off as strange to others.

Deep down, Junior is trying to find his way. Though, this is hard for him at Reardan because he does not have the same opportunities as his classmates. They will all be attending college and have lots of money to spare, whereas he sometimes has to walk home from school for over 20 miles because there is not enough money for gas. I think once people get to know Junior, they will become fast friends. I also think that once people realize that skin is just a color and has no impact on personality, Junior's white classmates will see that an Indian is still a person.
