Last Semester

Last semester, I learned that high school required much more time and effort than middle school. People had been saying it, but I never realized how literally they meant it. I get good grades, but in middle school I did not have to try very hard to achieve good grades. Though, I learned the hard way that the same rules do not apply to high schoolers. I am taking three challenging honors classes, and when I did not do as well as I had hoped on the first tests I took in those classes, I new something needed to change.

I knew that I could change my study habits and productivity. This would mean beginning homework as soon as I got home rather than watching TV for an hour and not starting my homework until later that night. This would also mean that I needed to start reviewing what we learned in class at home in order to lock that information in. Also, I started to study for tests 1 week in advance rather than 1-2 nights in advance. I began to see improvements in my grades and just like that I had my good grades again.

  1. I agree. My study habits need to improve if I want to be successful in school and in the future.

  2. I also realized that my study habits needed to be changed early on in the first semester of high school. I like how you describe the changes that you've made since the first semester of high school.

  3. I agree that it is a lot more challenging and requires more effort. I like how you showed comparisons of what you used to do and what you do now.
